Beni Suef University’s Faculty of Applied Arts Strengthens Industrial Partnerships through Cooperation Protocol with Swiss Cotton Garments Company
In line with the Egyptian state’s directives to align higher education with labor market demands and enhance collaboration between universities and industrial institutions, Beni Suef University witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol with the Swiss Cotton Garments Company. The agreement aims to foster academic, research, and training cooperation while providing practical and qualifying opportunities for the university’s students and graduates.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, and Mr. Mohamed Badran, CEO of the Swiss Cotton Garments Company, in the presence of university leadership, Faculty of Applied Arts officials, and company representatives.
Attending the signing ceremony were Dr. Yasser Jaber, Scientific Advisor; Dr. Diaa El-Din Moustafa, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts; Dr. Abeer Moawad, Director of the University Performance Development Center; Dr. Hemat Fayoumi, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office; Dr. Abeer Enayatullah, Director of the Biochemistry Program; Dr. Mohamed Sami, Dean of the Engineering Sciences Sector at Beni Suef National University; and Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University.
Representing the Swiss Cotton Garments Company were Mr. Abdel-Nasser Shehata, HR Director; Mr. Ali El-Sagheer, Legal Advisor; and Mr. Amr El-Wardany, Plant Manager.
Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that Beni Suef University places great importance on expanding partnerships with the private sector. Such efforts facilitate knowledge sharing, support scientific research and innovation, and offer students practical training aligned with labor market needs and the goals of Egypt Vision 2030. He noted that this agreement reflects the university’s strategy to link education and scientific research with productive sectors, ensuring graduates possess the hands-on skills required by the market.
For their part, representatives of the Swiss Cotton Garments Company expressed their pleasure in partnering with Beni Suef University, praising its academic caliber and expertise. They reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting joint cooperation and knowledge exchange to serve the needs of the textile and apparel sector.
The protocol holds particular significance for the Faculty of Applied Arts by bolstering practical training, bridging academic curricula with real-world industrial applications, enhancing graduate employment opportunities, and fostering joint efforts in design, manufacturing, and textile technology.
In a related context, the visit featured a ceremony hosted by the company to honor and welcome 15 Beni Suef University graduates across various applied and technological disciplines who recently joined its workforce. Company officials noted that these graduates were selected after successfully clearing evaluation and training phases, commending their technical competence, adaptability, and performance across production sites.
Following the ceremony, Dr. Tarek Ali and the accompanying delegation conducted an inspection tour of the company's manufacturing, packaging, and quality control facilities. The visit concluded with discussions on operationalizing the agreement and an exchange of commemorative shields to mark the partnership.
